food safety is becoming a major focus for consumers. As such food safety issues became significantly more important when it involves international trade. in recent years, as consequence of this growing consumer focus, governments in many countries are taking measures to improve food safety. this is resulting in an increased level of scrutiny and regulations. Mew Zealand and China, among other countries are leading initiatives in food safety to ensure consumer confidence and trust.
about the summit
the China and new Zealand international Food Safety Summit will be held in Auckland on the 20 February 2017. it will focus on greater communication between New Zealand and China regarding food safety management and legislation within the dairy industry, reinforcing the ling standing international trading relationship between our two countries.
the purpose of the Summit is to deepen the understanding of New Zealand and China’s food safety regulations and manufacturing practices, Respected opinion leaders from both countries will share their knowledge and experience which will result in the delivery of safe and high quality products.
this is rare occasion where industry leaders and government regulators from the two countries will congregate together to discuss important developments facing the food industry today . it will provide a fantastic opportunity yo clarify and develop a sound understanding of current food regulations and the direction in which the regulations are heading in the future.

Junshi Chen, Chief Adviser and Researcher of China National Center for Food safety Risk Assessment, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Mr Chen is specialized in food safety risk assessment and risk and risk communication food toxicology, epidemiology of diet, nutrition and non-communicable diseases, and food fortification and dietetics. Mr Chen graduated from Beijing Medical Academy majoring in Public Health in 1956. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Pharmacology at China Academy of Medical Science, and studied toxicology at the United States Albany Medical Academy and Nutrition Science at Cornell University. He is the former Vice President and current Research and PhD Supervisor at the Nutrition and Food Health Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medical Science, Vice Chief Director of Chinese Academy of Toxicology. He was also the member of the National Committee of the 7th and 8th Chinese People;s Political Consultative Conference. Jan Carey is the CEO of the Infant Nutrition Council and was previously the Executive Director of both IFMAA and NZIFMA for the past 2 years, prior to their amalgamation. She is the industry representative on the Ministry of Health;s Compliance Panel in New Zealand. In 2013 Jan was appointed to the Executive of the Governing Board for the International Special Dietary Food Industries Association (ISDI). ISDI is based in Brussels, represents the industry globally at Codex, World Health Assembly meetings and WHO Executive Board meetings. Prior to her appointment Jan was responsible for driving the work of SIDS and kids, Australia. She was influential in expanding the SIDS organizations’ research and family services both nationally and internationally into the perinatal area to include stillbirth and neonatal death. |
